Hathersage Social

We absolutely loved our second visit to Hathersage Social! After a busy Saturday morning of running errands and toddler football, it was great to pause over a laidback and delicious family lunch. We were invited as guests of the restaurant to check out the new additions to the menu.

When we first visited Hathersage Social, it was a gorgeous sunny day and al fresco dining was all that was allowed. Their garden area is absolutely stunning when the sun is shining. However, last week’s weather meant we were grateful to eat inside this time. We were really pleased that dogs are welcome inside at Hathersage Social, in the downstairs seating area (but not for Sunday lunch).

So, the food. It was brilliant again! Here’s what we had:

I had the open steak sandwich with fries. This dish was beautiful as you can see, with a really generous amount of medium rare steak, complemented by plenty of red onion marmalade, watercress, cashew pesto, Cropwell Bishop blue Stilton and finished with parmesan.

My wife had (and loved!) the chicken in a basket. This was some really delicious buttermilk fried chicken with BBQ relish, tomato mayo, chargrilled spring onions and fries:

Our daughter enjoyed the fish & chips from the kids’ menu, which was another great portion and really nice quality:

We were too stuffed for waffles for dessert this time, which is a shame as they are brilliant at Hathersage Social! But we’re planning to head back for brunch soon and make up for that.

Many thanks to Ian and the fab team at Hathersage Social for inviting us and for such a wonderful time. Really recommend you check this place out, it’s a great spot for a rewarding meal after a long walk in the Peak District or for a leisurely lunch with friends and family.
